China FAW Group Corporation (short for FAW) is a state-owned super large automobile enterprise group. Formerly known as the First Automobile Works, FAW is one of the key construction projects of the national "First Five-Year Plan". FAW was founded in 1953, put into production and produced the first truck (Jiefang brand) of New China in 1956, and produced the first car (Dongfeng brand) and the first luxury car (Hongqi brand) of New China in 1958. The completion of FAW created the history of new China’s automotive industry.

After 70 years of development, FAW has established five production bases in Northeast China, North China, East China, South China, and Southwest China, and established a global research and development layout, and has independent brands such as Hongqi, Jiefang, and Bestune, and joint venture brands such as Volkswagen (Audi) and Toyota. It has produced and sold over 56 million cars, ranking first in the Chinese automotive industry in terms of sales volume.

China FAW has been awarded A-level evaluations in the annual performance assessment for central state-owned enterprises for 15 consecutive years. From 2019 to 2022, FAW has received an A-level rating for four consecutive years in the assessment of Party building responsibilities in central state-owned enterprises.
