Coffee in grain, powder and capsules

展品详情

The history of coffee in Portugal begins in the 18th century, when Portugal introduced coffee to Brazil.

Coffee was first introduced as an important commodity by the Portuguese King João V in the former Portuguese colony of Brazil, making Brazil the largest producer of Arabica coffee in the world at the time. Due to its historical relations with Brazil, Timor, Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, all green coffee producing countries, Portugal has been at the forefront of the coffee industry. As a result, it is among the countries that best understand the roasting and coffee blend development processes.

The growth of the global coffee market, with its introduction into Asian markets and with the boom in the capsule industry, created an opportunity for globalization/internationalization and the growth of a characteristic sector of the Portuguese industry.

A drink with an intense flavour and strong aroma, for home or social consumption, no one remains indifferent to the fragrance of Portuguese coffee which, today, is an acquired habit spread throughout the world, with high importance in the international economy.

In grain, powder and/or in capsules, recognized for innovation and quality, Portuguese coffee stands out for its commitment to sustainability and global vision.
