This tallest land mammal belongs to family Giraffidae. Its long neck enables this unmistakable inhabitant of Africa’s savannah to browse on vegetation which is its primary food. Male ave. 5.3 m in height, with its 40cm tongue is able to reach high into acacia trees. About 15 mos. the female giraffe bears a baby giraffe, 1.7-2 m high, which can stand 20 minutes after birth. Giraffe’s life span in the wild is 25 years.
