China to host an Import Expo in 2018 Release date:2017-12-06

The China International Import Expo (CIIE) will be held from November 5th-10th, 2018 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. The Chinese Government is holding CIEE with a view of firmly supporting trade liberalization and economic globalization by opening its market to the world.

The aim is to facilitate countries and regions all over the world in strengthening economic and trade cooperation while promoting global trade and world economic growth in order to advance the development of an open world economy.

The Chinese Government welcomes government officials, friends from the business community, exhibitors and professional purchasers across the world to participate in CIIE and to explore the Chinese market.

The Expo gives access to the huge Chinese market

With the world’s largest population, China is the second largest economy, as well as the second largest importer and consumer in the world. China has now entered a new development stage in which consumption keeps increasing, indicating an enormous potential for the growth of consumption and import products and services valuing more than $10 trillion. This provides an historic opportunity for enterprises across the world to enter the Chinese market.

Shanghai has an ideal location as the trade center of China

Shanghai enjoys a favorable location advantage, great economic strength, well-developed service industries and the ability to allocate global resources. The container throughput of the Shanghai Port has been ranked first place for seven consecutive years. The passenger throughput of its airport exceeds 100 million, with flight network covering 255 cities around the world.

The Expo will have diversified and targeted supporting activities

Enterprises from over 100 countries and regions are expected to participate in the CIIE. Supporting activities such as supply-demand matchmaking meetings, seminars, and product release will be held during the Expo.

There will be multiple measures guaranteeing effective service

CIIE will facilitate participation in terms of customs clearance, inspection and quarantine, provide long-term one-stop transaction services online and offline, and strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights to safeguard the rights and interests of merchants

Strong purchase demand from a large number of purchasers

CIIE will invite Chinese enterprises from throughout the country to come to do business. Merchants from third countries will also be invited to the Expo. It’s estimated that 150,000 domestic and international foreign professional purchasers will participate in the Expo.

The Expo will consist of trade in goods and services areas

The section of the Expo dedicated to the trade in goods includes six exhibition areas: High-end Intelligent Equipment, Consumer Electronics & Appliances, Automobiles, Apparel, Accessories & Consumer Goods, Food & Agricultural Products, Medical Equipment & Medical Care Products.

The section of the Expo dedicated to trade in services comprises Tourism Services, Emerging Technologies, Culture & Education, Creative Design and Service Outsourcing.

Booth rates start from $300/m² for Raw Space and $3,000/9m² for a Standard Booth. The organizers are offering 20% off the cost for reservations by January 31st, 2018. The booking deadline is June 30th, 2018.
