Nicosia, Cyprus. The Cyprus Information Technology Enterprises Association (CITEA) is increasing efforts to expand its members’ international outreach, with its newly appointed board focusing on growth opportunities in overseas markets.

Meeting with the Chinese embassy

CITEA president George Malekkos, vice president Antonia Michael and general manager Matina Zisiadou met representatives from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Cyprus to discuss ways to deepen commercial ties.

Export prospects and market entry support

The talks focused on opportunities to boost exports by Cypriot technology companies and on practical ways to support their entry into the Chinese market.

China International Import Expo highlighted

Particular attention was given to the China International Import Expo, an exhibition focused exclusively on imports into China, which was presented as a platform for Cypriot companies seeking to establish a presence in the market.

Broader strategy for international expansion

The initiative was described as part of CITEA’s wider strategy to help members expand beyond national borders through targeted partnerships and outward-looking action. The association said it aims to strengthen members’ international footprint, build new commercial links and access high-growth markets.

Malekkos said China had until recently been widely viewed primarily as an export-driven country, adding that “it is also a vast market that values professionalism and innovation, creating significant opportunities for Cypriot technology companies that are in a position to compete and offer specialised solutions.”

He said the objective is not only participation in exhibitions or introductory networking, but the development of substantive partnerships intended to deliver concrete results for members. He added that CITEA sees potential for Cypriot expertise and plans to pursue it in a structured and strategic way.
