Multiple measures adopted to cope with large passenger flow of CIIE Release date: 2018-05-15

The first China International Import Expo (CIIE) will be held in November 5-10, 2018. The security department of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) stated that they will try their best to cope with the large visitor flow at the expo in a variety of ways.

The department said that a test was implemented recently during the Health Industry Summit (also called medical exhibition) which receives the most people in a single day in the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC).

The passenger flow reached 185,000 on the first day of the exhibition. The evacuation began at 5p.m. and was almost completed by 6:45p.m.

The Metro Line 2 is the main transportation artery that arrives at the NECC, and this year its transport capacity will reach its peak - a train will depart every 3 minutes and 40 seconds from East Xujing Road Metro Station, which means, it can evacuate 15,000 to 20,000 passengers in an hour.

In addition, the transfer function of Line 17 can also be utilized to allow some visitors to leave from the North Square through the pedestrian passageway to take Line 17, and transfer to Line 2 or Line 10 at Hongqiao Hub. This has been tested during the medical exhibition. The number of people entering Line 17 reached 8,000 to 10,000 on the second day. The effect is gradually improving, and there will be more room to improve in the future.

The expo encourages green and intensive travel. In the future, many buses will be used to evacuate visitors, and coordination with hotels along the route is also considered to realize more reasonable transport arrangements.
