The Parallel Session on New Prospects for China and New Opportunities for the World of the 5th Hongqiao International Economic Forum (Hongqiao Forum) was held in Beijing on November 5. Li Shulei, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of the Publicity Department, attended the parallel session and delivered a speech.

Li Shulei pointed out that the important speech delivered by President Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony of the 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE) profoundly clarified that openness is an important driving force for the progress of human civilization and a necessary path to world prosperity and development, forcefully declared China’s unswerving advocacy of expanding openness, and fully expressed China’s sincerity in sharing development opportunities with the world, which is of great significance.

Li Shulei stressed that over the past decade, China in the new era has developed in interaction with the world, both developing itself and benefiting the world. The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China drew up a grand blueprint to comprehensively promote the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through modernization with Chinese characteristics, and China is willing to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning with other countries to enrich the paths towards modernization jointly. China will steadfastly promote the well-being of its people, advance high-quality development, promote a high level of openness to the outside world, and follow the path of peaceful development, to inject more vitality and momentum into the common development of all countries in the world, and bring more stability into world peace and tranquility.

The parallel session was hosted by the Information Office of the State Council, organized by the International Communication Research Center of the National Academy of Governance, CGTN, China Center for International Economic Exchanges and the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China, and co-organized by the Information Office of Shanghai Municipality, with over 200 Chinese and foreign delegates from nearly 60 countries and regions attending online and on site.
