Orix Group, a Japanese diversified multinational financial group, has an extensive operation network in China. How will Orix, as the chair of the special committee of smart supply chain of the CIIE Enterprise Alliance, work with the CIIE to contribute to building stable supply chains? Here is an interview with Liu Guoping, chairman of Orix Group Greater China.

Reporter: What has the special committee done since its establishment in 2020?

Liu: The special committee brings together more than 20 leading companies in the field of smart supply chain, including KPMG, Deloitte, HSBC, Kuehne+Nagel, CBRE, and Savills. In 2021, it held a meeting in Dalian, Northeast China's Liaoning province. As the chair of the committee, Orix launched an initiative at the meeting that calls for the committee to help with China's carbon emission goals. As one of the important achievements of the CIIE, Orix jointly established Orix (China) Industrial Holdings Co in September 2021 with a State-owned platform in Qingdao in East China's Shandong province, becoming a new engine of Japan-China industrial cooperation.

Reporter: How do you view the role of the special committee in improving sustainable development capability?

Liu: The special committee brings together leading companies in the global service trade field. We deal with goods and services, and exchange culture and ideas. Going forward, Orix will fully leverage its global business network and operational capabilities, and work closely with members to showcase innovative products, technologies and services across various fields at the CIIE, and share the latest development trends. At the same time, we will integrate, lead and promote more foreign companies to innovate and develop in China, stimulating the development vitality in China and sharing the opportunities of the Chinese market.

Reporter: As the chair of the committee, how will Orix leverage the platform of the CIIE to further expand cooperation?

Liu: Orix has over one million small and medium-sized enterprise customers. We are willing to fully utilize customer resources, global business network, and resource allocation capabilities to add new economic and social benefits to urban development and promote continuous cooperation and exchanges between Japan and China in related fields. On the platform of the CIIE, we will fully leverage the leading role of exhibitors, partners, and platform companies to create more scenarios and unleash more opportunities for collaboration.

Reporter: What exhibits and projects will Orix bring to the CIIE this year and what are the highlights?

Liu: At the upcoming expo, we will focus on showcasing classic cases of Orix Group Greater China's practices in the past three years in the fields of financial leasing, new infrastructure, new cultural tourism, digital finance, film and television IP, as well as industrial operation and investment platforms.
