This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. As a longtime participant in the CIIE, Singaporean company Wilmar International will once again participate in the sixth China International Import Expo this November and showcase high-quality products from BRI countries.
"The CIIE is not only a trade fair, but also an international and open platform that showcases China's commitment to expanding high-level opening up," said Tu Changming, director of the public affairs department at Yihai Kerry Arawana Holdings, a subsidiary of Wilmar International in China.
"It is of great significance for us to showcase the efforts and contributions of overseas Chinese through the CIIE, and to support the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative. We look forward to the expo every year."
As a world-leading multinational agricultural group, Wilmar International's global industrial layout aligns closely with BRI countries. Its business covers regions such as Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Oceania, giving it unique advantages in promoting agricultural cooperation with BRI countries.
Over the past five years, with the support of the CIIE, Wilmar International has introduced multiple products from BRI countries, including soybeans, palm oil, and milk, to the Chinese market.
"We have strengthened trade cooperation with nine African countries, striving for mutual benefits. In recent years, we have continued to import sesame and engage in related cooperation. This business not only stimulates local employment in Africa, but also improves local mechanized production," said Tu.
Nowadays, the increasing focus on healthy consumption presents both opportunities and challenges for food processing companies. "Through the CIIE, we can see that more food companies are focusing on the field of health," Tu said.
At this year's CIIE, Wilmar International will bring the latest technologies and products developed in China in recent years, such as edible oils with zero trans-fatty acids and six-step fresh rice precision control technology. These advancements will contribute to the development of China's grain and oil food industry.
