Established in 1907, multinational energy technology company Baker Hughes will showcase cutting-edge technologies in the energy and industrial sectors at the sixth China International Import Expo to explore ways of striking a balance in providing affordable energy for everyone.

Reporter: Can you introduce Baker Hughes' main business and its business layout in China?

Levi Li, leader of government relations and strategic partnership at Baker Hughes China: Baker Hughes focuses on comprehensive solutions for energy transition and climate change technology development. We currently operate in over 120 countries worldwide.

Baker Hughes has been collaborating with China since 1979. We have supplied approximately 150 compression units to China's West-to-East Gas Pipeline project. We've been involved in over 20 percent of China's shale gas exploration and development efforts and have deep partnerships with Chinese companies in countries that are a part of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Reporter: What has the special committee of low-carbon energy and environmental protection technology of the CIIE Enterprise Alliance done since its establishment?

Li: In 2021, the committee organized a special section at the fourth edition of the CIIE. At the fifth edition, we further strengthened international cooperation, making this special section well-known to the world.

As the chair of the committee, Baker Hughes, together with Alfa Laval, hosted the first CIIE Energy Security and Low Carbon Development Cooperation Summit Forum.

Reporter: How has the committee demonstrated leadership and served as a model for exhibitors?

Li: We have invited multinational energy groups to participate in the fifth CIIE and are currently inviting more top companies for the sixth expo.

We have collaborated with international associations to get CIIE exhibitors involved in activities related to the low-carbon energy sector. Furthermore, we will work with other committee members and industry partners to conduct research activities and share technologies.

Reporter: What products and projects will Baker Hughes bring to the CIIE this year, and what are the highlights?

Li: This year marks Baker Hughes' sixth appearance at the CIIE. Our focus is on three areas: improving oil and gas production efficiency, decarbonization and clean energy, and enhancing industrial asset safety. Over 50 percent of the technologies and equipment will be exhibited in China for the first time.

Reporter: How has previous participation in the CIIE contributed to Baker Hughes' business development?

Li: Baker Hughes regards the CIIE as a very important exhibition platform. Not only have we showcased the latest technologies, but we have also increased our visibility and strengthened relationships with the government, clients, and suppliers.

In recent years, Baker Hughes has maintained double-digit business growth in China, achieving a historic high last year. Our procurement volume in China also grew by over 60 percent last year to reach new heights.

Reporter: What do you consider to be the main development trends in China's economy and consumer market in recent years? How is Baker Hughes positioning its business in response to these trends?

Li: We firmly believe that the Chinese market is a critical engine driving global economic growth. China is one of Baker Hughes' most important markets, and China's supply chain, whether in terms of quality, price, or diversity, is one of the best.

In the short term, we have already planned or implemented investments to expand capacity and introduce new technologies in Suzhou and Changzhou. In the long term, Baker Hughes will accelerate its investments in the field of energy transformation.

We will make the most out of the annual CIIE to support Baker Hughes' development in China.
