My CIIE Story • Prominent Platform | CPIC ensures successful expos Release date: 2022-09-20 Source:China International Import Expo Bureau
Editor's Note: The fifth China International Import Expo is closer as September had come. The "My CIIE Story" activity, which was launched on June 1, has drawn a great deal of attention and many people have shared their experiences related to the expo. A series of works themed on "grand strategy" and "big market" were published in July and August. In September, more stories with the theme "prominent platform", which showcase how the CIIE turns exhibits into commodities and exhibitors into investors, will be released.
Exhibits may be the main focus of any exhibition, but much goes on behind the scenes before they can even be showcased to the public.
For an import event like the CIIE in which many of the exhibits are highly valuable and from abroad, insurance companies like China Pacific Insurance Co (CPIC) play a crucial role in ensuring they arrive safely and are processed according to local regulations.
One of the main challenges the CPIC initially faced when handling exhibits for the CIIE was customs clearance. As the clearance process consists of many steps and has stringent requirements, we were unable to have exhibits cleared in a timely manner.
Following repeated discussions with customs authorities, our team launched an insurance product that allows exhibitors to complete customs clearance before paying the tariffs.
This service helped a jewelry exhibitor that could have missed the deadline.
During the second CIIE, the CPIC offered one-stop insurance services, including those related to intellectual property rights protection, to exhibitors and supply chain services providers. Services catered to sectors such as financing, shipping, customs clearance, and warehousing were also offered to trade missions.
In the third edition, we designed different solutions based on the risks involved in various stages of the expo. For example, during the move-in and move-out phase, electricity consumption is high and the venue is prone to fire. As such, we installed heat sensors and set up an inspection team in cooperation with emergency management departments to deal with potential risks efficiently.
We later launched a series of carbon neutrality solutions and products during the fourth CIIE to help with the country's green transition.
In addition to insurance services, the CPIC has also offered help in attracting exhibitors and purchasers. We are currently preparing for the upcoming fifth CIIE and looking forward to making contributions to the economic growth of China and the world.
