Editor's Note: The fifth China International Import Expo will open in less than 20 days. In October, several participants of the CIIE will tell their stories themed around "great opportunity" to showcase the positive changes the expo has made to the world and how it has helped build a community with a shared future for mankind over the past five years.

The fifth CIIE is coming and Linde, an industrial gases and engineering company which has been in China for 35 years, will attend the expo for the fourth time.

The CIIE is the epitome of the vibrant and resilient Chinese economy. It shows that China's market is opening wider and its business environment is improving. It also brings Linde exciting opportunities.

As China is getting more focused on its carbon peak and neutrality goals, sustainable development has been a hot subject in the CIIE. Global companies showcased a variety of low-carbon products and technologies, such as electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles at the automobile exhibition, as well as new energy solutions in the intelligent industry and information technology exhibition. Traditional energy-intensive industries also displayed their green transition in the low-carbon energy and environmental protection technology subsection which was first set up at the fourth CIIE.

Linde set its latest sustainable growth goals last year – the company's absolute greenhouse gas emissions will decline by 35 percent by 2035 compared to 2021 and we will achieve climate neutrality in 2050. In light of this, we displayed our innovative technologies, products, and services, including hydrogen energy solutions, lithium ion batteries and an industrial gases manufacturing and distribution system designed for industrial parks, during the past two editions of the CIIE. The system can greatly improve resource utilization and help enterprises in the parks realize low-carbon development.

The CIIE has provided a great platform for Linde to carry out hydrogen energy projects in China. At the fourth CIIE, our one-stop hydrogen refueling solution received much attention from visitors and media. After communicating with other companies in the industry, we found our Chinese partners are passionate about working with Linde to explore the emerging hydrogen energy market.

Due to the expo, Linde has been expanding its investments in China. We have invested in the petrochemical projects of many free trade zones in China and hydrogen energy projects in places in East and North China.

Linde is looking forward to further helping China achieve its carbon peak and neutrality goals via the CIIE in the future.
