Editor's Note: The fifth China International Import Expo will open in less than 10 days. In October, several participants of the CIIE will tell their stories themed around "great opportunity" to showcase the positive changes the expo has made to the world and how it has helped build a community with a shared future for mankind over the past five years.

2022 marks the third consecutive year that Uniqlo has participated in the CIIE. Our continuous engagement in the expo demonstrates Uniqlo's confidence in the Chinese market and expresses our hope in finding new development opportunities.

We attended the third edition of the CIIE in 2020 for the first time. It was one of the few large international trade fairs after the COVID-19 pandemic. We treasured the chance and built a 1,500-square-meter booth named "Museum of Tomorrow", which was the largest booth in the consumer goods exhibition area. This was also part of our global brand exhibition The Art and Science of LifeWear, which had only been staged in New York, Paris, and London.

The high-tech and creative products displayed at the booth, including a 2.7-meter-tall down jacket and a 3D knitting machine, drew a great deal of attention from media and consumers.

The CIIE has also expedited the entry of Uniqlo's new products into the Chinese market. We set up a "Tomorrow Wonderland" booth at the fourth CIIE and our iconic products, such as jeans, ultra-light down jackets, Heattech thermal underwear, and Airism series, saw remarkable sales following the expo's conclusion.

During the fifth CIIE, Uniqlo will have a 1,000-square-meter booth that comprises four sections and features 10 series of products. At the technology section, a 2.5-meter-tall Heattech thermal underwear will be premiered, and ultra-light down outerwear, which is portable, waterproof, and antistatic, will also be displayed. Products designed by pioneering designers will make their world debut at the fashion zone, while jeans will be showcased at the quality section.

The sustainability section will feature recycled fleece fabric and an interactive device that shows how plastic bottles are turned into clothes.

Uniqlo has been operating in China for 30 years and presently has nearly 900 shops in more than 200 Chinese cities. It has benefited from the country's open and inclusive social and economic environment. Through the CIIE, we have introduced many advanced technologies and high-quality products to China, as well as cooperated with Chinese suppliers on innovation.
