CIIE sure to be in excellent health Release date: 2019-09-18    Source:SHINE

Local health authorities have speeded up preparations for the second China International Import Expo with drills, volunteers and first-aiders training and pest control.

The Red Cross Society of China’s Shanghai branch has given first-aid training to 250 health care staff as well as nearly 100 CIIE volunteers, security and service staff, with plans to train nearly 5,000 volunteers from universities and government departments soon to follow through.

There will be five Red Cross stations in the National Exhibition and Convention Center and 58 automated external cardio-defibrillators.

Pest prevention and control efforts are in full swing around the convention center, traffic hubs, hotels and tourism venues.

Each municipal district has been advised to upgrade its pest control and inspection, especially targeting mosquitoes and rats to reduce the risk of vector-born diseases like dengue fever, said Shanghai Health Commission.

Officials have inspected areas around the NECC, commercial centers, hotels and hospitals, airports, railway stations, the Metro and tourist spots. Staff in these places will receive training on pest control.
