Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao welcomed Indonesia to participate in exhibitions such as the China International Import Expo to promote sustainable development of bilateral trade between China and Indonesia during a meeting with Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, coordinating minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment of Indonesia on April 4.

Economic and trade cooperation between China and Indonesia has made solid progress, with the bilateral trade between the two sides reaching nearly $150 billion in 2022, the highest in history, Wang said. He also noted that the digital, green, and marine economies have become new growing areas of bilateral cooperation.

Wang added that China will support enterprises from both countries to advance cooperation in the "Two Countries, Twin Parks" project and in industries including new energy and electric vehicles.

He stressed that China will work together with Indonesia in synergizing the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and Indonesia's vision of the Global Maritime Fulcrum, and boosting the high-quality implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership.

Luhut said at the meeting that economic and trade cooperation between the two sides has benefited each other and boosted the recovery of the Indonesian economy after the COVID-19 pandemic.

He added that Indonesia is willing to deepen trade and investment cooperation with China and that Chinese enterprises are welcome to participate in the development of the new energy and electric vehicle industries in Indonesia.
