The annual China International Import Expo, which epitomizes the wider opening-up of China, has witnessed the sharing of development opportunities for enterprises from all over the world.

The spillover effects of the CIIE have grown over the past five years and will continue to expand this year.

On March 28, domestic deliveries for the new Tesla Model S and Model X, which made their debut in the Chinese mainland at the fifth expo, started. These cars will soon be available in Tesla shops across China.

On April 10, the first batch of 10 shares under China's registration-based initial public offering (IPO) system started trading on the main boards of the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges. The registration-based IPO reform, which is aimed at improving China's capital market system, was announced at the inaugural edition of the CIIE in 2018.

The sixth expo is less than 200 days away, and preparations are progressing smoothly.

To further expand the influence of the expo, the sixth CIIE has increased its efforts to promote it in various ways at home and abroad.

For example, an investment promotional event targeted at exhibitors of the CIIE was held in Changchun, the capital of Jilin, from March 22 to 24.

The event was the first in a series of local investment promotional activities involving CIIE exhibitors this year. It was also the first activity of the "Invest in China Year" campaign launched by the Ministry of Commerce.

Promotional events for the subsections at this year’s expo have also been held to attract more enterprises to participate.

In addition, a promotional conference for the sixth expo was held in Hong Kong, which marked the beginning of a worldwide promotional campaign for this year’s expo.

To date, the organizer has held such events in Hong Kong, Macao, and several South American countries including Argentina. More promotional events will be held in Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, and Africa.
