Promotional event for 7th CIIE held in US Release date: 2024-05-11    Source:China International Import Expo Bureau

Over 100 enterprises and institutions from the United Sates attended a promotional event for the seventh China International Import Expo in New York on May 8.

Huang Ping, the Chinese consul general in New York, delivered a speech at the event, praising the CIIE as a prime example of cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized the expo's role in facilitating the import of high-quality US products and services to meet the growing demands of Chinese consumers.

Huang expressed his hope that an increasing number of US businesses can take full advantage of the CIIE to access the expansive Chinese consumer market and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

Sun Chenghai, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau, noted that over the past six years, US enterprises have occupied the largest exhibition space among all participating countries. He also highlighted that preparations for the seventh CIIE are progressing smoothly, with US businesses booking over 50,000 square meters of exhibition space out of the more than 280,000-sq-m total booked space.

Eric Zheng, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, discussed the collaboration between the US Department of Agriculture and AmCham Shanghai during the sixth CIIE. Through this collaboration, nearly 20 US state governments, associations, exporters, and food manufacturers, set up booths for the first time at the CIIE, according to Zheng.

He emphasized that participating enterprises are able to gain orders, expand their market reach, and strengthen innovation while also seizing opportunities in China as it continues to develop and modernize.

Caroline Berson, vice-president of global public policy and government affairs at PepsiCo, revealed that as one of the first batch of exhibitors that have signed up for the seventh CIIE, PepsiCo has increased its exhibition area at this year's expo and aims to establish deep partnerships with more businesses.

During the promotional event, Dun & Bradstreet, ACHR West Inc, Mevion Medical System, and Berkshire Blanket signed contracts for participation in this year's expo or memorandums of cooperation with the CIIE Bureau.
