Shanghai mayor: More Belgian enterprises welcome to attend CIIE Release date: 2023-03-31    Source:Multiple

Mayor of Shanghai Gong Zheng welcomed more Belgian enterprises to participate in the China International Import Expo to bring more quality commodities and services to China, and invest in Shanghai during a meeting with Jan Hoogmartens, Belgian ambassador to China, on March 30.

Gong said that Shanghai highly values friendly exchanges with Belgium and that he hopes both sides can further cooperation that yields mutual benefits.

During the meeting, Gong noted that Shanghai looks forward to deepening the exchanges with Belgium in scientific and technological innovation, and enhancing cooperation in the fields of biological medicine, micro-electronics, and clean energy. 

Hoogmartens said that Shanghai has always been an attractive destination for Belgian companies. 

Belgium, an export-oriented country that values the stability of the global supply and value chains, is currently looking to deepen its cooperation with Shanghai in matters related to carbon neutrality, clean air and water, renewable energy, and urban renewal, Hoogmartens said.

He also welcomed more Shanghai enterprises to invest in Belgium. 

Bruno Jans, Belgian consul general in Shanghai, also attended the meeting.
