Gong Zheng, mayor of Shanghai, said he welcomes enterprises from Western Australia to participate in the seventh China International Import Expo scheduled for next year during his meeting with Roger Cook, premier of the state of Western Australia, on Nov 23.

During the meeting, Gong emphasized the longstanding relationship between Shanghai and Western Australia. He also expressed hope for further collaboration between the two regions across various sectors as well as in-depth exchanges among universities, research institutions, and businesses.

Cook said that Western Australia is an economic powerhouse in Australia while Shanghai is also a leading economic hub. He recognized the substantial opportunities for collaboration between the two regions and expressed excitement for close cooperation with Shanghai by leveraging platforms like the CIIE.
