A consultation meeting for the seventh China International Import Expo and the Hongqiao International Economic Forum, an important part of the expo, was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, the United States, on May 9.

The meeting highlighted the role of the CIIE and the Hongqiao forum in promoting global trade development and supporting South-South cooperation by showcasing specific cases. The World Openness Report released by the Hongqiao forum was emphasized at the event, and opinions were solicited on the themes and topics for this year's forum.

Twenty-three countries' representatives, deputy representatives and senior officials to the UN, as well as representatives from UN agencies such as the Department of Economic and Social Affairs under UN Secretariat, UN development Programme and UN International Children's Emergency Fund, attended the meeting.

Attendees praised the CIIE and the Hongqiao forum for their contributions to economic globalization, South-South cooperation, and the advancement of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. They expressed strong interest in continuing to participate in these two events.
