4th CIIE promotional event to attract Danish companies held online Release date: 2021-03-05    Source:China International Import Expo Bureau

A marketing event to attract Danish companies to attend the 4th China International Import Expo (CIIE) was held online on March 3. About 30 enterprises participated in the event that was co-hosted by the CIIE Bureau and the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI).

"Denmark is an important participant of the CIIE," said Liu Fuxue, deputy director-general of the CIIE bureau.

He said that there were nearly 40 Danish companies participating in the 3rd CIIE, including over 20 high-quality food firms, such as Kjeldsens Butter Cookies, Danisa Butter Cookies and AnthonBerg Chocolate Liqueurs.

The exhibition area of Denmark at the 3rd CIIE was more than 6,000 square meters, which was the largest among the Nordic countries.

Liu also said that China welcomes Danish companies' continued support of the CIIE and hopes that they will seize the opportunity that China's economic growth provides to inject new impetus into Sino - Danish trade and economic cooperation.

"China is Denmark's top trading partner in Asia and fifth in the world now," noted Gao Xingle, economic and commercial counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Denmark.

Gao indicated that bilateral trade in goods between China and Denmark was a record $13.5 billion in 2020, up 15 percent year-on-year.

As the industries of the two countries are highly complementary and both governments attach great importance to eco-friendly growth, there is a great potential for cooperation in the fields of high-quality food, ecological agriculture, new energy, and environmental protection, Gao said.

"The CIIE is an international economic and trade fair, and it is also an important platform for Danish companies to expand exports and find partners," said Jakob Linulf, consul general of Denmark in Shanghai.

Linulf also claimed that the Danish economy is gradually getting better, and companies are paying more attention to the Chinese market than ever before. This year, there will be more Danish exhibitors and more extensive industries involved, he added.

Danish food, condiments and other products were exhibited at the previous CIIEs, and they hope to further strengthen cooperation with China next year, said Soren Falck, leading international adviser at DI, in his speech.

We will invite relevant equipment and technology companies to participate in the exhibition to provide sustainable development solutions, he added.

In addition, this conference also introduced the latest news and characteristics of two of Denmark's exhibition areas – food and agricultural products and technical equipment.

The preparations for the 4th CIIE are steadily advancing as planned, and over 60 percent of the area has been booked. The renowned Danish consumer goods company Lego Group and the medical corporation Novo Nordisk are among the Danish enterprises that have signed contracts to take part in the exhibition.
