CIIE unveils new committee to promote sustainable development Release date: 2021-03-29    Source:China International Import Expo Bureau

A special committee for low-carbon energy and environmental technology was established by the exhibitor alliance of the 2021 China International Import Expo on March 26.

The establishment of the committee is of great significance to the future development of the industry, said Wang Biao, global vice president of Baker Hughes, a member of CIIE exhibition alliance.

Baker Hughes and other exhibitors will play an active role in promoting the development of technology, equipment, energy and low carbon through this committee, as well as contribute ideas for the sustainable development of China and the world, Wang said.

The country's new target of achieving peak carbon emission levels in 2030 and carbon neutralization in 2060 are major goals that will be incorporated into the overall layout of China's ecological civilization construction. These goals are also expected to bring huge market potential to the industry, said Kong Fuan, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau.

The CIIE is an important platform for the implementation of the national development plan, and will do its part to support the country's quest to reduce carbon emissions, said Kong.

Kong expressed hope that exhibitors, through the special committee, will proactively offer ideas and help the industry to develop in a sustainable way.

Baker Hughes will chair the new committee, with BWT and Alfa Laval as deputies, and Siemens Energy as adviser. Other committee members include Avancis, Vestas, Linde, EKOL, BIE and Mihana Group.
