The promotional webinar of the 4th China International Import Expo for Costa Rica was held on April 16. More than 40 representatives from the Costa Rican government and business circles participated.

Tang Heng, Chinese ambassador to Costa Rica, said in his speech that economic and trade cooperation between China and Costa Rica have been increasing since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two sides in 2007. He added that China has been Costa Rica's second largest trading partner for many years.

Tang said China sincerely invites the Costa Rican government and enterprises to actively participate in this year's CIIE in November, and to give full play to the China-Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement so that more high-quality products from Costa Rica can successfully enter the Chinese market, hence promoting economic and trade relations between the two countries to a new level.

Andres Valenciano, minister of foreign trade of Costa Rica, said that the China-Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement has helped Costa Rica's exports to China become more diverse.

On the 10th anniversary of the signing of the China-Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement, Costa Rica will actively participate in the 4th CIIE, continue to provide high-quality and environmentally friendly products for the Chinese market, and deepen the development of bilateral economic and trade relations, said Valenciano.

Sun Chenghai, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau, said that more than 20 Costa Rican companies have participated in the exhibition in the past three years. Costa Rica's agricultural products such as coffee, pineapple and juice have also been popular among Chinese consumers.

Alvaro Piedra, exports director of the Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promoter, said Costa Rican companies view the CIIE as an important platform to bring products such as dehydrated pineapple, coffee, mixed cocktails and pork to this year's expo.
