A promotional event for the sporting goods and events subsection of the sixth China International Import Expo was held in Shanghai on March 17. 

Representatives of the world’s leading sporting goods manufacturers, including Nike, Skechers, Adidas and Puma, were in attendance.

As CIIE has been expanding international influence over the past years, the sporting goods and events subsection, an important part of the expo’s consumer goods exhibition area, has attracted the participation of many global sports brands, said Ni Feng, president of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).

The development of the sports industry special committee of the CIIE Enterprise Alliance has also helped improve the professional level of the expo, he noted.

Xu Qi, deputy director of the Shanghai Administration of Sports, said that the sporting goods and events subsection of the CIIE is a significant platform that has facilitated communication between domestic and international sporting brands and events. 

The subsection has also forged closer ties with consumers, enterprises, and organizations, allowing for the better promotion of sporting culture, he added.

She Duanzhi, vice-president of Government and Public Affairs at Nike Greater China, said that the company, which is the current president of the sports industry special committee of the CIIE Enterprise Alliance, will continue to help promote communication among companies of the committee and contribute to the development of the sports industry.

The sixth CIIE is scheduled to take place in Shanghai from Nov 5 to 10. More than 210,000 square meters of exhibition area has already been booked so far. The sporting goods and events subsection of this year’s expo, themed "sports technology empowers healthy and sustainable life", is aimed at strengthening the global exchange and cooperation in the sports industry and boosting the sustainable development of this sector.
