CIIE Story • Voices of Exhibits | Boeing presents 777X family at CIIE Release date: 2023-11-10    Source:China International Import Expo Bureau

US aircraft manufacturer Boeing is showcasing its 777X family of planes at the sixth China International Import Expo in Shanghai.

Besides providing an excellent flying experience, the 777X family also boasts excellent efficiency and environmental performance because of its design.

Thanks to new breakthroughs in aerodynamics and engine technology, the fuel consumption and emissions of 777X planes are significantly lower than its competitors.

The Chinese market has great potential, and US companies are eager to showcase their abilities here, said Peter Gao, vice-president of commercial sales and marketing of Boeing at Greater China. He added that participating in the first CIIE had boosted the company's confidence in China's determination to open up further.

This year, Boeing is looking forward to face-to-face communication with more stakeholders at the CIIE. "We believe that China will develop into the world's largest and fastest-growing aviation market. For Boeing, the biggest challenge is how to produce more high-quality aircraft to better meet the demands of the Chinese civil aviation market," Gao said.

Sustainable development in the aviation industry is a key focus of Boeing's exhibition at the sixth CIIE.

Additionally, Boeing is showcasing four pathways to sustainable development in the aviation industry: fleet renewal, operational efficiency improvement, renewable energy use, and technological upgrades.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of introduction of Boeing aircraft to China. In 1972, China, which was looking to modernize its civil aviation fleet, placed an order for the first batch of 10 Boeing 707 airplanes. The first 707 was delivered in 1973. Today, Boeing aircraft have become the backbone of China's passenger and cargo transportation system.

"Currently, domestic air passenger traffic in China has exceeded pre-pandemic levels, and international travel is steadily recovering," said Gao.

He noted that as China's economy and air passenger traffic continue to grow, Boeing's comprehensive lineup of commercial aircraft will play a significant role in supporting the sustainable development in the aviation industry.
