A symposium for promoting the seventh China International Import Expo took place in Singapore on Jan 26.

Representatives from Singaporean enterprises and associations of key industries attended the event and many of them shared their experiences and gains from participating in the CIIE.

Kang Yiming, economic and commercial counselor of the Chinese embassy in Singapore, said that over the past six years, Singaporean enterprises have achieved positive results in Chinese market exploration through active participation in the expo.

Highlighting the current favorable trend in China's economic growth, Kang said that the openness of China's vast market provides development opportunities for companies from various countries, including Singapore.

The embassy will continue to support more high-quality Singaporean products, technologies, and services to enter both the Chinese and global markets through the CIIE, Kang added.

Singapore is a crucial participant in the CIIE, said Ning Feng, president of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), the venue for the CIIE. He said he welcomes active participation from Singaporean enterprises in the seventh CIIE, with the added benefit of mutual visa exemption between the two countries.

According to Ning, preparations for the seventh CIIE are progressing rapidly, with the exhibition area already booked exceeding 140,000 square meters.

Kelvin Kee, executive director of international business at the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), said that the federation has mobilized Singaporean enterprises to participate in the annual CIIE for six consecutive years, leading to the signing of a series of contracts.

This year, SBF will continue helping businesses from Singapore to take part in the seventh expo, Kee added.

During the symposium, SBF signed a memorandum of cooperation with the CIIE work team.

While in Singapore, the CIIE work team also visited the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry and visited several CIIE exhibitors. During the visit, Singaporean enterprise OSIM signed up for the seventh CIIE.
