A promotional conference for the beauty and cosmetics subsection of the seventh China International Import Expo took place in Shanghai on Jan 29.

The conference, which was the first promotional event targeting a specific industry for the seventh CIIE, was attended by representatives from 10 members of the daily chemical consumer goods special committee of the CIIE Enterprise Alliance, including L'Oreal, Procter and Gamble, and Shiseido. Over 50 individuals, including exhibitors, partners of the CIIE and representatives from enterprise that intend to participate in the expo, were also present at the event.

Wu Zhengping, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau and vice-president of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), said at the event that the CIIE has been at the forefront of championing China's commitment to openness and is helping its participants to share development opportunities.

He welcomed more enterprises to participate in this year's expo. According to Wu, preparations for the seventh CIIE are progressing smoothly.

Yan Jiangying, chairwoman of the China Association of Fragrance Flavour and Cosmetic Industries, said that the CIIE has evolved into a trendsetter for the international beauty industry, as China is now the world's second-largest beauty and cosmetics consumer market.

She suggested that the special committee promote the CIIE as a platform for debuting beauty and fragrance products, fostering exchange on the latest technology, facilitating interaction with Chinese counterparts, and enabling continuous promotion and increased consumer engagement.

Lan Zhenzhen, chief corporate affairs and engagement officer of L'Oreal North Asia and China, highlighted the company's active involvement in every CIIE.

According to Lan, L'Oreal, the chair of the daily chemical consumer goods special committee for the seventh CIIE, has debuted nearly 20 international new brands and dozens of cutting-edge technologies over the past six expos.
