China is planning to expand imports of knowledge- and technology-intensive manufacturing services as part of efforts to transform and upgrade its manufacturing sector and foster the sector's high-quality development.

The measures to achieve this were included in an official document released by the National Development and Reform Commission and 12 other central departments on March 23.

According to the document, China will continue to push ahead with a new round of high-level opening up and enhance cooperation with global markets. Efforts will be made to bring in high-quality services suppliers in knowledge- and technology-intensive sectors such as research and development, energy saving, and environmental protection.

In addition, the country will actively promote exchanges and cooperation with global technical quality inspection and certification bodies to establish a standard that is widely recognized.
