The 2024 members meeting of the Hongqiao International Economic Forum, which is an important part of the China International Import Expo, took place at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) on Jan 9.

Sun Chenghai, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau and managing deputy secretary-general of the Hongqiao forum, said at the meeting that this year's Hongqiao forum will continue to invite more eminent guests and maximize media coverage, as well as strengthen its collaborations with the CIIE's business exhibition to better serve its members.

Noting that China remains the main engine for global economic growth in 2024, Yu Zirong, head of the Hongqiao forum research center, suggested that the themes and topics for the seventh Hongqiao forum should uphold the principles of innovation and openness to better play its role as an international public good.

Representatives from 21 member companies, including French food company Danone and South Korean conglomerate SK, participated in the meeting and applauded the forum for its role in facilitating information sharing and business connection. They suggested a diverse range of topics for the seventh forum, such as consumption upgrading, financial opening-up, sustainable development, and global cooperation on public health management.
