Khark Petrochemical Company (public joint-stock) was registered back in 1967 with the goal of preventing the burning of gases, arose from oil extraction by the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (Kharg Island), and converting them into valuable products. It has been in operation since November 6, 1969.
