The China International Import Expo is an indicator of the country's grand plan to support the liberalization of trade and economic globalization, according to the chief executive of General Electric's China unit.

GE China will use the CIIE to communicate with exhibitors, buyers and guests to bring more products to China and popularize technologies and products developed by local departments, Rachel Duan told Yicai Global in an exclusive interview.

The first ever CIIE is scheduled to take place in Shanghai from Nov. 5 through Nov. 10 this year.

The firm plans to show off its most advanced high-end manufacturing technology at the show, and show how it helped Chinese aviation, electricity, healthcare, renewable energy and oil and gas companies make their industrial assets more efficient through digitization, Duan said, saying China is GE's most promising market.

GE's development strategy in China centers around the idea of complete localization and being a global partner for Chinese companies looking to progress overseas, she added. It is already having plenty of success and has turned China into GE's biggest single-country market behind the United States, Duan said, adding that sales in the country tallied USD8.1 billion last year.

The nation's reform and opening up has been key to the company's advancement, she said, adding that government policies have convinced GE to further foray into China.
