Global Times: Consuls general in Shanghai prepare for upcoming CIIE to strengthen trade exchanges Release date:2018-07-24

Guergana Guermanoff, Consul General of New Zealand

The uniqueness of the New Zealand Maori culture, our care for the environment and connection with nature, our concern for the well-being of people and environment, our commitment to providing genuine, high-quality New Zealand experience whether it be through tourism, education, or through our famous food and beverage products will all be represented at the expo.

Rashed Matar Alqemzi, Consul General of the UAE

CIIE is very important for the UAE, and we would like to be present at the event. Fifty companies from the UAE will participate. Our Minister of Economy will be the head of the delegation.

This expo represents an important measure that China has taken to further open up its market to the world, and it will increase imports for the country.

China and the UAE have complementary economic and trade cooperation. The UAE has seen economic growth through its exports to China in recent years. If China increases imports from the UAE, it will help us get more involved in China's Belt and Road initiative and share China's rapid growth.

We hope the CIIE could dazzle the outside world with the allure of China's domestic market and its stated intent to be welcoming of foreign goods and services.

Therese Healy, Consul General of Ireland

Ireland, through its food promotional board, has decided to showcase our high-quality Irish food and drinks. Ireland is known as "Food Island" and has a long track of record of importing high-quality and very safe produce to China.

Attendees of CIIE will be able to see the huge range and quality of our foods and drinks, including Irish beef, seafood, dairy produce and craft beers and whiskeys. What we have been doing already is importing excellent quality Irish seafood like oysters to China. The feedback of consumers here has been overwhelmingly positive.

Irish beef is one of the best products that we have. Irish cattle are raised outdoors for almost a whole year, eating high-quality Irish grass in a very natural environment. I am glad that CIIE is taking place in Shanghai, a city renowned for its trade with the outside world and its openness and international spirit.

Sabri Tunç Angili, Consul General of Turkey

Turkey's four industries, including auto, food, textile and chemistry and machinery equipment will participate in CIIE. They are really the driving forces of Turkish economy.

Many global auto manufacturers now have production facilities in Turkey, which makes Turkey's auto companies very experienced because they are supplying the parts of high-quality automobiles to places where these global companies are producing, including China. Some of the big Turkish auto companies are also investing in the Chinese market.

We have a strong agriculture and this leads to the development of food industry in Turkey. In 2015, China and Turkey signed an agreement to allow Turkish dairy products into the Chinese market. Now the licensing talks between China and Turkey are going on. I hope we can reach a conclusion before the expo so that Chinese consumers can see our good-quality dairy products.

Siti Nugraha Mauludiah, Consul General of Indonesia

Indonesia will focus on three industries including food and agricultural products, apparel accessories and consumer goods and trading services, all which we think we have potential to enter the Chinese market.

Personally, I would like to see more Indonesian instant noodles and coffee in China. We have so many types of instant noodles which are not yet available here. Indonesian coffee, like Java and Luwak, is famous all over the world. We hope that, through CIIE, more and more Indonesian products will enter the Chinese market.

Eyal Propper, Consul General of Israel

Israel is going to show the Israeli innovative spirit at the expo. Israel and China today are in an innovative comprehensive partnership, which will be the main aspect that we are going to present during CIIE. We want to show different kinds of innovative ideas coming from different fields of Israel, including medical, transportation, healthcare, environment and dairy.

An Israeli dairy producer already has very strong cooperation with a Shanghai-based dairy product company and presents its products here. In the medical field, we also have big companies.

I believe Israel could be a very good partner to China in water resources and environment protection. With innovation, we would like to enhance close cooperation between Chinese and Israeli companies in the future.
