Promotional event for CIIE, Hongqiao forum held in Geneva Release date: 2023-12-12 Source:China International Import Expo Bureau
A promotional seminar for the China International Import Expo as well as the Hongqiao International Economic Forum, an important part of the CIIE, was held in Geneva, Switzerland on Dec 6.
The event was attended by permanent missions of several countries at the United Nations Office at Geneva, as well as representatives and experts from private sectors and international organizations such as the World Trade Organization, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the International Trade Centre (ITC).
Song Shangzhe, on behalf of the CIIE Bureau and the secretariat of the Hongqiao forum, said that the CIIE and the Hongqiao forum demonstrate China's support for the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Song added that both events have yielded positive outcomes in helping least developed and developing countries unlock trade potential, seize trade opportunities, establish investment promotion platforms, and participate in global economic governance.
Participants in the seminar voiced their appreciation of the role the CIIE and the Hongqiao forum have played in advancing global trade development and expressed their intention to attend and support both events.
During the seminar, the CIIE Bureau and the Swiss China Center signed a memorandum of cooperation.
The CIIE work team also visited Richard Kozul-Wright, director of the globalization and development strategies division in UNCTAD, and Ashish Shah, director of the Division of Country Programmes in ITC to get their feedback about the sixth CIIE and Hongqiao forum and discuss ways to enhance collaboration.
