Over 100 representatives from local business associations and enterprises attended the event.

Yao Jing, Chinese ambassador to Spain, said that Spain has participated in the CIIE for six consecutive years, emphasizing the expo's role as a crucial platform for Spanish businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, to expand into the Chinese market and deepen economic cooperation with China.

He encouraged Spanish companies to leverage the expo to gain a better understanding of Chinese consumers and explore new growth opportunities.

Wu Zhengping, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau, said that the CIIE will continuously enhance its services and strive to increase imports of high-quality products and services from countries like Spain.

He added that this year's expo will tailor matchmaking activities specifically for foreign small and medium-sized exhibitors to ensure tangible results.

Carmen Jordan, director for creative Industries at ICEX, a Spanish facility for trade and investment promotion, said that ICEX places great importance on the CIIE and will actively mobilize Spanish companies to participate in order to expand exports to China.

During the event, the National Association of European Business and Innovation Centers, or ANCES, and company SECCO signed up to participate in the seventh CIIE.

While in Madrid, the CIIE working team met with former Spanish prime minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero to brief him on preparations for the seventh CIIE and encourage active participation from various sectors in Spain.
