The third China International Import Expo (CIIE) was successfully held in Shanghai as scheduled, despite the global economy being hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, the import fair has received a lot of attention and positive feedback from news outlets across the world.

A commentary by Rossiyskaya Gazeta, a Russian newspaper, pointed out that the third CIIE was a global economic and trade event being held amidst a pandemic, which proved that China's economy is recovering rapidly and provided a platform for foreign enterprises to enter the Chinese market.

With the global market shrinking, many foreign companies see exports to China as an opportunity to expand sales and have thus made extensive preparations for their participation in the third CIIE.

An article in Le Soir, a French-language daily Belgian newspaper, noted that the current global pandemic is still serious, and it speaks volumes that the CIIE was held as scheduled. This demonstrated to the whole world China's firm determination to expand its opening-up in a comprehensive manner.

The Associated Press said in its report that the third CIIE demonstrated the recovery of China's economy and was an effort to boost the global economy.

The Asahi Shimbun was particularly interested in the fact that the third CIIE attracted more than 400 Japanese companies. Its news report pointed out that the global economy is in recession and companies from many countries and regions are pinning their hopes on China's huge market.

The Daily News of Sri Lanka said that the CIIE is known as an innovated global trade event and demonstrates China's resolve to open more to the outside world. The annual event is also an important move by China to support economic globalization and promote the development of an open world economy.

The CIIE is expected to inject new momentum into the global economy in the post-pandemic era, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan. The national news agency said the expo amazed visitors with new products, technologies, and services from across the world. The growing number of overseas exhibitors proved that China's reform and opening-up is being noticed by the international community.

The CIIE has helped open the Chinese market to the world, according to a report by LETA, a leading news agency in Latvia.

China has reduced tariffs on thousands of imported commodities and streamlined administrative customs procedures, the report noted.

A report by the Philippine Star noted that dozens of Philippine enterprises took part in the 3rd CIIE, introducing specialties such as tropical fruits, vegetables, nuts and sea food to China.

The CIIE also provided an excellent opportunity for Egypt to export more goods to China, Al-Masry Al-Youm of Egypt wrote in an article, noting that Egypt will seize the opportunity to expand economic and trade cooperation with China.

Los Angeles Weekly in the United States reported that the San Francisco Bay Area Council has participated in the expo for three consecutive years, and more than 10 enterprises and institutions from California displayed a wide range of products and services during this year's event, reflecting the state's hope to revitalize its economy at the world's largest import expo.

An article published on the official website for Kenya Broadcasting Corporation stated that the 3rd CIIE, as a platform to showcase products from companies around the globe and facilitate business negotiations between Chinese purchasers and exhibitors worldwide, demonstrated China's willingness to open up and reflected its vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Lusaka Times from Zambia also wrote that through CIIE, an increasing number of African goods are becoming known and accepted by Chinese consumers, such as coffee from Ethiopia and red wine from South Africa.

Hellenic Shipping News from Greece reported that the CIIE is a major initiative taken by China to open its market to the world.

This year's event will contribute to an early recovery of the world economy, it stated.

The Ghana Business News website said China is Ghana's largest trading partner and also a major export destination. Cocoa beans from Ghana were popular among Chinese importers at the expo, which led to surprising sales both online and offline, the article pointed out.
