A senior seminar on Italian food and feed exports to China and a promotional event for the China International Import Expo was held in Turin, Italy, on June 15, local time.

The event attracted nearly 100 representatives from Italian governments and enterprises, as well as experts and scholars from the Italian food safety industry.

Li Bin, minister counselor for economic and commercial affairs at the Chinese embassy in Italy, said that the CIIE is a significant initiative for China to further open its market to the world.

He added that the embassy will actively promote trade exchanges between the Italian agricultural food and feed industries and China, and will strongly support Italian exports to China in these sectors.

Liu Fuxue, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau, said that Italy has always been an important participant of the CIIE and was the guest-of-honor country for the country exhibition at the second CIIE.

Liu added that the past expos have attracted Italian companies from the design, automotive, food and beverages, and fashion sectors.

He said he welcomes more Italian food and agricultural product companies to join the CIIE, seize opportunities in the Chinese market, and promote the development of Sino-Italian ties.

Chang Min, president of the Belt and Road Italian Food and Feed Promotion, spoke about the exhibition plan for the sixth CIIE, and signed a CIIE proposal with the attending Italian companies.
