Many enterprises from Iceland praised the benefits they gained from their continuous participation in the China International Import Expo, especially in expanding their market channels, during an event held in Reykjavik, Iceland, on June 16.

The event, aimed at attracting Icelandic enterprises to participate in the sixth CIIE, was attended by representatives from local government, organizations, and enterprises.

Chinese Ambassador to Iceland He Rulong said that Icelandic enterprises have achieved great results by participating in the CIIE and Icelandic products such as wild sea cucumbers and skincare products have been well-received by Chinese consumers.

Zhang Weimin, assistant president of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), which is the venue for the CIIE, said that the expo has provided a platform for promoting the economic development of both China and Iceland.

According to Zhang, Icelandic companies have shown a growing enthusiasm and been expanding their presence at the expo. During the fifth CIIE, Icelandic companies achieved their highest-ever intended transaction volume.

Icelandic companies still have a strong interest in engaging in the international event, said Petur Oskarsson, chief executive officer of Business Iceland, adding that he hopes more Icelandic companies will participate in this year's expo.

Li Tong, chairman of the Chamber of Chinese Association in Iceland, said that an increasing number of Icelandic startups are now turning their focus towards China and aiming for better and faster growth in the Chinese market. They recognize the tremendous opportunities, particularly in leveraging e-commerce platforms to establish brand presence and expand market recognition, he added.

In addition, the Icelandic-Chinese Trade Council expressed their willing for long-term cooperation with the CIIE and signed a cooperation memorandum with the CIIE Bureau during the conference.
