Leaders of the business community in Tanzania on Monday said they are looking forward to further exploring the Chinese market by participating in the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) to be held in Shanghai in November.

The announcement was made by senior officials from the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF), the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA), the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) and the Zanzibar National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC).

Speaking at a promotion conference organized by the China International Import Expo Bureau, the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), and the Chinese embassy in Tanzania, TPSF Finance Manager Deogratius Massawe said his organization will encourage Tanzania's private sector to participate in the expo.

Nebart Mwapwele, a representative from TCCIA, said the agency was committed to encouraging the Tanzanian business community to participate in the expo, which will bring opportunities for Tanzanian products to enter the Chinese market and markets in other Asian countries.

"It will also strengthen economic and trading cooperation between China and Tanzania," Mwapwele said.

Suo Peng, minister counselor of the Chinese embassy in Tanzania, said the 6th CIIE is an excellent platform for Chinese consumers to know "Made in Tanzania" and fall in love with Tanzanian products.

"We hope that Tanzanian products and services can enter the vision of Chinese consumers through the window of the CIIE, stand firm with its own advantages, and establish close cooperative relations with Chinese partners," Suo said.
