A promotional event for the sixth China International Import Expo took place in London, the United Kingdom, on local time May 25 attracting more than 200 attendees from local business associations, enterprises, and media outlets.

Bao Ling, minister of the China's embassy in the United Kingdom, said at the conference that the CIIE serves as a platform for China and the world to share development opportunities.

She said she is looking forward to having more distinguished high-quality products and services from the UK available to Chinese consumers.

Liu Fuxue, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau, said that the CIIE is an important decision made by China to pursue high-level opening-up in the new era and is China's major initiative to widen market access to the rest of the world.

He hopes that UK organizations and enterprises will continue to play their role in attracting more exhibitors to the expo.

Lise Bertelsen, executive director of public affairs in the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) said that the CIIE has provided opportunities and support for British enterprises to explore the Chinese market.

She added that CBBC will help more member companies participate in this year's expo.

During the event, five UK organizations and enterprises, including the CBBC, signed cooperation agreements with the CIIE Bureau for the sixth CIIE.
