On March 30 and 31 local time, a delegation of China International Import Expo Bureau (CIIEB) and National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) Shanghai went to Ecuador to promote the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE). The delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Ecuador, hosted a seminar together with the embassy and the Institute for the Promotion of Exports and Investments, Ecuador, to introduce the event and its various components to nearly 40 local organizations and enterprises, and had a work meeting with the Chamber of Commerce Ecuador Shanghai China.

According to members of the delegation, in line with the consensuses reached between the heads of state of the two countries on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, China has been promoting cooperation with Ecuador for policy, infrastructure, trade, financial and people-to-people connectivity. Since the CIIE is a major move of China to promote cooperation for shared benefits and shared opportunities, all parties from Ecuador are encouraged to take this opportunity to facilitate their entry to the Chinese market and pursue further development.

Representatives of the Institute for the Promotion of Exports and Investments, Ecuador, stated that after the China-Ecuador Free Trade Agreement (FTA) took effect, over 90% of Ecuador’s exports to China have been exempted from tariffs and the CIIE is a great opportunity to bring more quality Ecuadorian products to China.

The Chamber of Commerce Ecuador Shanghai China affirmed the CIIE as the most important event for it to participate in China and confirmed its participation in the eighth edition of this event.

Fang Hao, Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Ecuador, stated that China, pursuing a mutually beneficial strategy of opening up, has been strengthening connectivity for development. The CIIE represents China’s efforts to open wider and to help build an open world economy. The event serves as a platform for exhibitors from around the globe to showcase their products and a gateway to the vast Chinese market. He expressed the hope that various parties from Ecuador would seize the opportunities presented by the FTA and the CIIE to explore the Chinese market, pursue development, and contribute to bilateral economic and trade ties.
