A delegation from the China International Import Expo (CIIE) Bureau visited New Zealand from Feb 20 to 22 to promote the 8th CIIE, which will be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) in November.
During the visit, the delegation held meetings with the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), the China Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand (CCCNZ), dairy company Theland, seafood company Sealord Group, and Bank of China (New Zealand) Limited. The discussions focused on encouraging more New Zealand businesses to participate in this year's expo.
Wu Zhengping, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau, revealed that New Zealand companies have been actively participating in the CIIE since its inception. He noted that the expo has given high-quality New Zealand products, such as seafood and dairy, greater access to the Chinese market.
Wu invited New Zealand businesses and organizations to participate in the 8th CIIE and encouraged them to expand their presence at the expo and explore new sectors, such as tourism and education, while continuing to promote high-quality agricultural and food products in China.
New Zealand representatives praised the CIIE as a valuable platform for businesses looking to access the Chinese market. Qi Jun, chairman of CCCNZ, stated that the chamber will increase its promotional efforts and expand its participation in the expo. Joyce Liu, business development manager at NZTE Greater China, said the organization will recommend the CIIE to New Zealand companies looking to expand their presence in China.
Theland, which has participated in all seven previous editions of the CIIE, has reaffirmed its commitment to the expo. Roy Van Den Hurk, the company's chief executive officer, stated that Theland will continue to take part in the expo and encourage its industry partners to join as well. Jason Plato, general manager of sales at Sealord Group, also expressed strong interest in the expo and said the company is actively considering participating.
