From January 26 to 27, Wu Zhengping, executive director-general of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) Bureau and chairman of the Board of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), led a working group to the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) to carry out promotional activities for the ninth CIIE. During the visit, the working group held separate working meetings with officials from the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute, the Government Tourism Office, and the Economic and Technological Development Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, with a view to encouraging more Macao institutions and enterprises to participate in the CIIE.

Wu Zhengping noted that the CIIE, the world's first national-level expo dedicated to imports, has been successfully held eight times since 2018, with its core functions continuously enhanced. He said that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has made important strategic arrangements for expanding high-standard opening-up and promoting the balanced development of imports and exports. These arrangements not only chart a clear course for the CIIE to further improve its quality and impact, but also create new opportunities for Macao to advance the moderately diversified development of its economy. Wu extended sincere invitations to Macao institutions and enterprises to actively participate in the ninth CIIE, explore the expansion of exhibition scale and the broadening of exhibition fields, and bring more high-quality and characteristic Macao products, technologies and services to the mainland market and beyond.

Officials from relevant departments of the Macao SAR Government spoke highly of the CIIE's important role in promoting global trade and investment and strengthening economic and trade ties between Macao and the mainland. They said that, in line with Macao's development positioning as "one center, one platform and one base," the SAR will proactively align with the 15th Five-Year Plan, step up the promotion of the ninth CIIE, and support and organize more interested and potential institutions and enterprises to take part in the expo. They added that the Macao SAR Government will continue to integrate the mainland's needs with Macao's strengths, and Macao's needs with the mainland's strengths, accelerate the implementation of the moderately diversified economic development strategy, and contribute Macao's strengths to the advancement of Chinese modernization.

During the stay in Macao, the working group also held work exchanges with Liu Decheng, director of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, and Jiang Weiliang, general manager of Nam Kwong Group.

Representatives of the CIIE's strategic partner Bank of China and comprehensive partner Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, participated in the relevant activities.
