My name is Jakob Stausholm, and I am the CEO of Rio Tinto.

2023 is a special year for Rio Tinto. It is not only our 150th year anniversary, but also the 50th anniversary of our first iron ore shipment to China, a historical moment for our contribution to the extraordinary development in China.

Rio Tinto's growth in China highly aligns with the country's footsteps of opening-up. For the past 45 years, China and its trading partners have mutually benefitted from the opening up and subsequent growth of the Chinese economy.

Against a backdrop of global economic growth and climate change, China's unwavering dedication to promoting high-level opening-up is even more crucial to the world.

The Hongqiao International Economic Forum has served as a unique and open platform for driving international dialogue and cooperation. We believe cooperation will be essential for us to address the shared challenges of climate change and the transition to a more sustainable low-carbon economy, while maintaining high-quality development.

At Rio, we are searching to "find better ways" in our daily operations. Our company purpose resonates with China's high-quality development agenda, driving sustainable development with innovation and technology, and we see great potential for further collaboration. We hope to contribute more to the discussions at the Forum this year.
