As the global energy structure undergoes profound transformation, every innovation could mark a leap towards disruption. With "new energy storage" emerging as the key term of this change, we are on the brink of an in-depth dialogue about the future of energy. On the afternoon of November 5, 2024, the 7th Hongqiao International Economic Forum's parallel session on "New Energy Storage Drives Future Energy Transformation" will be held in D1, Hall 4.2 of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). This parallel session hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, and organized by the Institute of Science and Development, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and The Paper.
A Gathering of Titans, Interplay of Visions
This parallel session brings together top experts and leaders from government agencies, academia, and the industrial sector. Stanley Whittingham, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry and a professor at Binghamton University, State University of New York, along with several members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, will grace the event with their presence and share their cutting-edge research outcomes. Eminent scholars, including the heads of the Key Laboratory of Applied Superconductivity of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences will engage in cross-disciplinary discussions with representatives from China Southern Power Grid, Sungrow Power Supply, Emerson and other renowned domestic and international enterprises, culminating in a symposium of intellectual exchange and thought leadership.

What is the future outlook for the development of lithium-ion batteries? What are the prospects for the application of superconducting technology in future power grids? What will the new power system look like? Which energy storage technologies and energy policies will have a disruptive impact on the global energy landscape? This parallel session will delve into discussions on new energy storage supporting the construction of new power systems, the disruptive innovations and market potential of new energy storage technologies, and the carbon-neutral path of new energy storage and energy transition. It will share new technologies, developments, and trends in new energy storage, providing insights and action guides for all parties, promoting international exchange and cooperation in the field of new energy storage, and policy alignment and coordination, to drive the construction of a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system.
Enhanced Interaction, Broadened Horizons
To enhance the participation and experience of attendees, this parallel session has specially set up interactive sessions. Representatives from the National Energy Administration of China, high-level representatives and experts from other government agencies, domestic and international academia, industry, and research will attend this forum. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in face-to-face exchanges with guests, ask questions, and share insights. Hongqiao International Economic Forum (hereinafter referred to as HQF) is held in tandem with the China International Import Expo (CIIE). Under the theme of "High-Standard Opening up for Universally Beneficial and Inclusive Economic Globalization", the 7th HQF features the main forum (the opening ceremony of the CIIE and HQF), and 19 parallel sessions under "1+4" sections, i.e. the Press Release and International Symposium on World Openness Report 2024 and parallel sessions under Opening-up for Development, Opening-up for Cooperation, Opening-up for Innovation and Opening-up for Sharing. The 7th China International Import Expo & Hongqiao International Economic Forum Gala (CIIE&HQF GALA) will continue to be held before the opening ceremony, further enhancing the quality of services provided.
Facilitate networking and meetings. The Hongqiao Forum Secretariat will promptly release guest information to support mutual networking.
Enhance media interaction. Mainstream media will be invited to the event for scheduled interviews and spontaneous on-site interviews with high-profile guests, to enhance visibility. Photography services will also be provided.
Launch the function of message reservation. The information system of the Hongqiao Forum is optimized and upgraded. This system integrates such functions as registration, information inquiry, and guest interaction. It is now operational within the Hongqiao Forum module of the "Import Expo" App and applet.
