CIIE Stories | CIIE witnesses milestone achievement of China's shipbuilding industry Release date: 2024-03-13 Source:Official Release
Adora Magic City, the first domestically produced cruise ship, was among the projects signed by China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC) at the inaugural China International Import Expo in 2018 and was delivered at the sixth CIIE in 2023.
Over the past years, the CIIE has documented the entire journey of Adora Magic City, showcasing a new chapter of China's shipbuilding industry to the world.

Apart from the cruise ship project, CSSC has actively mobilized its subordinate enterprises to participate in the CIIE for procurement, research and development, and technology exchange negotiations.
As a member of the Central SOE trade mission, CSSC has also organized five centralized signing events in the previous six editions of the expo.
CSSC Cruise Technology Development Co Ltd, as the platform for the cruise industry under CSSC, is strategically advancing the development of cruise operation, research and design, and supply chain, aiming to build a robust local ecosystem.
As CIIE diversifies with a broader range of exhibitors and increased emphasis on cultural tourism and trade in services, it presents expansive opportunities for the domestic cruise industry. Accordingly, CSSC Cruise Technology plans to leverage the expo to explore more service and goods suppliers, broaden collaboration areas, and expand its supply chain.
Yang Guobing, chairman of CSSC Cruise Technology and Adora Cruises, a joint venture between CSSC and leading cruise line company Carnival, highlighted the significance of CIIE, stating, "Even before the opening of the inaugural CIIE, we recognized it as a global platform that connects China with the world and will attract attention worldwide."
He emphasized that technology, capital, and manpower from around the world converge with China at the CIIE. "We look forward to procuring and collaborating on more cruise projects through the CIIE," Yang added.
At present, CSSC aims to expand into the international market through participation in the CIIE, which is considered a high-quality platform for engaging with international clients, Yang said.
