A promotion event for the seventh China International Import Expo and the Hongqiao International Economic Forum, which is an important part of the expo, was held in Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea, on May 14, drawing almost 200 South Korean enterprises and institutions.

Xing Haiming, the Chinese ambassador to the ROK, highlighted the development of the relationship between China and the ROK over the 32 years since they established diplomatic ties. He emphasized the remarkable achievements in economic and trade cooperation, with China maintaining its position as the ROK's largest trading partner for 20 consecutive years.

Sun Chenghai, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau, acknowledged the ROK's significance as a key participating country in the CIIE, with South Korean exhibitors consistently ranking high in terms of both their number and exhibition area.

The CIIE has evolved into an important window demonstrating the vast market opportunities in China and showcasing the country's economic transformation and new consumption trends, Sun said.

It also serves as a gateway for ROK products to enter the Chinese market while providing a platform for ROK enterprises to expand their presence in China, he added.

Sun expressed the hope that more ROK enterprises will participate in the CIIE to seize the vast opportunities presented by the Chinese market.

During the promotion event, the Korea International Trade Association, Samyang Foods, and the Korea Innovation Center in China signed contracts for participating in the seventh CIIE or memorandums of cooperation with the CIIE Bureau.
