Nigerian Traders Seek Chinese Support for Health, Technology, Trade Opportunities Release date: 2026-08-18    Source:尼日利亚之眼

The Made in China Goods Traders Association of Nigeria has appealed to the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos for assistance in areas ranging from healthcare to technology and trade.

In a letter signed by National President Oluwole Adigun and addressed to Consul-General Mrs. Yan Yuqing, the association requested support for a cataract treatment outreach, access to artificial intelligence training, scholarships, and participation in major trade exhibitions in China.

Adigun explained that the medical initiative would help restore sight to underprivileged residents who cannot afford surgery, while the AI training and scholarships would build capacity among traders and strengthen Nigeria’s economic and technological development.

The association also sought facilitation for members to attend the Canton Fair in Guangzhou (October 15–November 4, 2026) and the China International Import Expo in Shanghai (November 5–10, 2026).

According to Adigun, participation would open doors to new markets, foster investment partnerships, and promote technology transfer between Nigeria and China.

He expressed gratitude for the recent Bamboo and Rattan Seminar organized by Chinese authorities, noting that the knowledge gained would be applied to empower members and enhance bilateral relations.

“We appreciate the Chinese Government of President Xi Jinping and its representatives for their friendship and support for Nigeria. We remain committed to cooperation, excellence and mutual respect,” Adigun said.

The association represents traders across several Nigerian states engaged in diverse commercial activities.
