At the special symposium organized by the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Shanghai Committee held on April 16, the representative of Chile stated that officials and a delegation of leading companies will attend the expo and they also confirmed that a "200-square-meter national pavilion" would be set up at the Comprehensive Exhibition Area of National Trade and Investment.
On February 26, Economic and Commercial Counselor's Office of the Embassy of China in Peru, the Peru Export and Tourism Promotion Commission (PROMPERÚ), and the Peruvian Association of Exporters (ADEX) jointly organized the first promotion conference of China International Import Expo.
At the promotion conference, Louis, Director of PROMPERÚ, stated that the variety and quantity of Peru’s agricultural products exported to China has continued to increase since last year, which was expected to be a new source of growth for trade between the two countries. Louis also said that the Peruvian government had encouraged its qualified export enterprises to seize the opportunity and actively participate in the exhibition, while the Promperu would do its utmost to organize and contribute to the further development of China-Peru economic and trade exchanges.
At a recent press conference, Hua Chunying, spokeswoman of China's Foreign Ministry, responded to US comments on Sino-Latin American relations by quoting an old Chinese saying, “Only the wearer knows if the shoe fits.” She stated that it had been proved that Sino-Latin America cooperation focused on their mutual development, met their common interests and aspirations, and achieved a beneficial friendship to both sides. China is now the second largest trade partner of Latin America. Chinese enterprises have created more than 1.8 million jobs in Latin American countries, having positive impacts on people there.
