Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng welcomed more French enterprises to participate in the sixth China International Import Expo and bring high-quality products and services to Shanghai and China during his meeting with Bertrand Lortholary, French ambassador to China, on May 29.

Gong noted that France is one of the most developed industrial countries, the largest agricultural producer in the European Union as well as the world's sixth-largest exporter.

He said that French enterprises are welcome to invest in Shanghai and that he is looking forward to fostering exchanges between higher education institutions and research organizations from both sides and further enhancing collaborative innovation in fields such as biomedicine, artificial intelligence, aviation and aerospace.

According to Lortholary, France will actively participate in the sixth CIIE to showcase its distinctive agricultural products and provide high-quality goods to Chinese consumers.

He added that the country will continue to help enterprises with their development in Shanghai, a city that is currently home to nearly 1,000 French enterprises.
