Gong Zheng, mayor of Shanghai, said Ethiopian enterprises are welcome to participate in the seventh China International Import Expo in 2024 during his meeting with Adanech Abebe, mayor of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, on Dec 19.

Gong said that Shanghai places great importance on fostering friendly relations with Ethiopia and that the city is aiming to deepen economic, trade, and investment cooperation with Ethiopia through the Belt and Road Initiative.

Abebe said that Addis Ababa is not only Africa's gateway city but also a prominent tourist destination. She added that she hopes to establish closer cooperation and exchange ties with Shanghai.
